University of Vermont Medical Center, Vermont’s academic medical center and founding member of the University of Vermont Health Network, seeks a Senior Tumor Registrar.
The Senior Tumor Registrar has demonstrated expertise in all registry functions and serves as a resource for the design and operation of the registry. This position also codes, stages, abstracts, and reports all cases of cancer initially seen at affiliated organizations within the guidelines of the State of Vermont Cancer Registry (VCR) and the American College of Surgeons (ACoS) for statistical analysis of cancer incidence and treatment protocols in national and world databases. Performs data entry utilizing specialized software. Maintains a current knowledge of staging, coding, and abstracting standards and requirements meeting 180 day reporting time frame and a minimum of 90% accuracy per the State of Vermont Cancer Registry.
Two years of experience related to health care operations and/or data management, one of which must be in cancer registry data management.
Minimum: Associates degree required. Successful completion of college level courses in Medical Terminology, and two semesters of Human Anatomy and Physiology. Must be a Certified Tumor Registrar. Certification must be maintained according to the American CollegeOf Surgeons Commission on Cancer Standards
